During my early teens I went to spend a couple of weeks in Crawley with Auntie Leah and Uncle Ken. Auntie Leah and I spent a memorable day at the Chelsea Flower Show where we found a black Pansy , a flower I have tried to find since. During the evenings she spent many hours embroidering a bell pull with British garden birds on. I remember thinking how beautiful it was. This inspired me to take up Danish Cross stitch, she gave me a magazine that didn’t contain any English writing but many pattens, many of which are now on walls around family houses.
